The kitchen was originally designed as a backdrop to family life, a place to watch the children grow and having served the family well for the last 15 years it was time to reclaim their adult space.

To create a larger, more sophisticated and more practical environment for socialising as well as entertaining. The original kitchen space was to be transformed into an area for storing and serving drinks from fine wines to teas and coffees. The Quooker boiling water tap here was combined with a Quooker Cube for chilled filtered sparkling and chilled filtered water. The coffee centre was behind bi fold hideaway doors which opened to reveal additional worktop, storage and lighting.

One of the issues to overcome was the amount of light that reached this area, we were asked to improve this. Using smart lighting from Rako throughout we were able to introduce various different lighting circuits to achieve multiple lighting options all of which could be scene set. At the push of a button or in the app it is possible to transform the whole room for different ambiences.

There was no compromise on materials, Steel framed ceramic fronts and concrete tones were combined alongside warm walnut veneers from our Next 125 range. Having fallen in love with the Sensa Nilo worktops in our studio we took time to view several potential slabs at our suppliers and handpick the natural quartzite that best suited the kitchen colours.

The project also included sourcing new walnut skirtings, walnut doors, smart lighting throughout as well as new wall cladding in ceramics. Relocation of the underfloor heating manifold and flooring throughout.
